Richard (Dick) Brent Cantonwine
Richard "Dick" Brent Cantonwine, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away on July 23, 2026, at home with his son, Jason, by his side.
Born October 6, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Merrill and Darlene Cantonwine.
Dick was raised in Rose Park and attended West High School.
He spent most of his career at Eaton Kenway Engineering and later worked at Bard and L3.
One of Dick's greatest joys was giving back to others. For many years, he generously volunteered with a charitable organization associated with the Utah Jazz, donating his time with a willing heart and a friendly smile. He believed in helping people and quietly making a difference in his community, never seeking recognition for his service.
Dick had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand or surrounded by family and friends. He loved fishing, boating, hunting, golfing, and bowling, and he embraced every opportunity to enjoy Utah's beautiful outdoors. Some of his most treasured moments were the weekends he spent fishing at Flaming Gorge with his son, Jason. Those trips created memories that will be cherished forever and reflected the close bond they shared.
Dick will be remembered for his kind heart, his generosity, his love of the outdoors, and the quiet example he set through his service and dedication to the people he loved. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Clair Anderson. He is survived by his son, Jason; his grandson, Gage; his brothers, Calvin (Carolyn) and Michael; and his sister, Judy.
