Jan and I and our children have known Rick since he moved into our ward about 40 years ago. He's been a wonderful friend and neighbor. He's helped us with many projects at our home and is a fine electrician. We loved Rick for his warmth and cheerfulness. Even when he was undergoing treatments, he had a smile and warm greeting whenever we saw him. He told me a few years ago when he was in remission that he didn't know how long he had to live and that he knew that the cancer might return. But, he said, he was going to enjoy life the best he could regardless of what might happen. He did that with enthusiasm and joyfulness. He loved each day. We will miss him greatly!
I knew Rick through the East Millcreek Water Company, and had the privilege of working with him on many projects during my time on the board. Rick was a one of a kind person. I consider it an honor to have known him. He will be missed.
