Richard Lewis Crockett's Obituary
Richard Lewis Crockett, 89, our beloved, father, brother, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully in Orem, Utah on July 1,. 2017. Richard was born to Lewis (Nick) Crockett and Nellie Mildred Bender on November 30, 1927 in Cimarron, Kansas. He grew up in Tucson, Arizona and graduated from Tucson Senior High School in 1945. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served in WWII, Korean War, and in Vietnam. He retired after 25 years in the Navy and then served in various occupations such as Taxi driver, Chief of Police, Elevator Maintenance man for University of Arizona, Custodian for the LDS Church, Gas Station Owner, & Maintenance Supervisor. His beloved role, though was that of husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his family and they in turn loved him.
He served in many auxiliaries in the church and served faithfully. He loved his mission with his sweetheart, teaching the people of Vancouver, British Columbia. Throughout his life, he shared his time, love, and resources to bless others and made friends wherever he went. He will be remembered as a true example of Christ-like charity and service.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Joe Grigsby Ward of 60 years, his brother John Crockett of Virginia, his daughter, Kathleen Marie Crockett Raney, son in law James Raney, his son, Nick Crockett, daughter in law Andrea Godbold Crockett, and grandchildren Chris and Chelle Raney, Kyle Raney, Collin and Makelle Raney, Katelyn Raney, Joshua and April Crockett, Courtney and Jake Tipton, Jordan Crockett, Nicholas Crockett, Jacob Crockett, Bradley Crockett, and great grandchildren Sienna, Coen, Ellory, and Ryker
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Nick and Mildred Crockett, his sisters Doris Evelyn Musgrow, Kay Jay, and Carolyn Edgett, and his brothers Bob Crockett and Don Crockett who passed two days prior to Richard’s death.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 7, 2017 at 545 South 800 East, Orem UT from 11am-12pm and the viewing same day (Friday) and location from 9:30-10:45am in the Relief Society room at the meeting house.
Interment will be at the Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery Gardens (4800 East lawn Dr, Provo).
