Richard "Dick" Franklin Schaffer's Obituary
Richard "Dick" Franklin Schaffer, 88 of Roy, Utah passed away in his home on January 16, 2026.
Richard was born June 12, 1937, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Ferdinan and Bernadine Stinebaugh Schaffer. He was raised in Layton Utah. After high school, he joined the Air Force where he was a jet mechanic for four years. Upon discharge, he was off to California, where he attended Chaffee College. He then met and married Linda Metcalf. Richard had a fulfilling career in data processing, working up to operations manager where he worked for over 30 years. After leaving data processing and a move to Utah, he worked for the IRS before retiring. Richard loved to fish, garden, work with his hands and tinker around the home and could be found on a ladder or digging in his garden well into his 80s.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ron and Jim. He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Linda Schaffer of Roy, Utah. He was a caring father of two, Duane (Tonya) of Murray, Utah and Cindy (James) Brown of Nixon, Tennessee. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Schaffer Watson, Ogden, Utah.
