Richard "Dick" Darrell Wilson's Obituary
Richard “Dick” Darrell Wilson, 78, of Kearns, UT, passed away on March 20, 2025 at his home with his wife by his side.
Born November 26, 1946 to Robert and Caroline Wilson who preceded him in death. Dick enlisted in the Army and served his country for many years, serving proudly in the Viet Nam war.
Dick met the love of his life, Kathy through a friend, and they married on August 13, 1988 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Dick had his Masters Degree in Engineering, and worked many jobs using his skills, finally settling at US West/Qwest where he retired in 2008. In January of 2009 Dick and Kathy moved to the Big Island of Hawaii, and he worked at Malama Market in Pahoa until he finally retired in June of 2021. After being chased by 2 lava flows they moved back to Utah and settled in Kearns.
Dick enjoyed life outdoors, and mostly around water. He did scuba diving, snorkeling, boating and the last few years loved to go fishing at least once a week.
Dick had a blended family, and is survived by his wife Kathy, and sons Corey (Cindy) Wilson, Nathan Young, Byron (Jennifer) Young and 1 daughter Kristi. He adored his 5 grandchildren, Katrina, Kody, Meagan, Stone, and Aaron. He enjoyed spending time with them more than anything in the world! He had a special place in his heart and soul for many of his in laws and nieces and their families that they willingly shared with him. He was forever blessed with family.
There are many friends that Dick considered family, and left a lasting impression on him. He had a gruff exterior, but a heart of pure gold and would do anything for anybody, be it a plumbing problem, an electrical issue, or anything else…He honestly could do anything he set his mind to.
Dick had a really hard year prior to his passing, but the family would like to thank the loving care he received from the people at Atlas Hospice. His nurses Tiki and Sammie were loving and caring to the end and they will never know how much that was appreciated!
Dick wished to go back to the Big Island, and the family will return him there sometime soon. We will honor him with a celebration of life in the near future…we will keep you posted.
