Richard “Rich” Edward Field, 81, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 13, 2025.
Born on July 14, 1944, in Bountiful, Utah, Rich was the son of Edward and Kathryn Burton Field. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Field Redd and Helen Field Call; brother, Robert Burton Field; and his son, Richard Curt Field.
Rich is survived by his devoted husband, Alex Field of West Jordan; his son, Ryan Field of Eagle Mountain; and his former wife, Sheila Elise Field of Logan, mother of his sons. He is also survived by his brother, David Field; his sister, Katharine Dupré; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Among them, a special niece he lovingly referred to as his daughter, along with her three children—Lucas, Zoe, and Britta—whom he adored as his grandchildren.
After a long and rewarding career with the Jordan School District, Rich retired in 2012. He was a man of many talents and passions—an avid adventurer who earned his pilot’s license, became scuba certified, loved snow skiing, mountain biking, and traveling the world.
Rich and Alex shared a deep and loving partnership. They found joy in the simple things—listening to music, going out to dinner, and taking little mini vacations whenever they could. They were steadfast supporters of one another through every season of life.
Above all, Rich was devoted to his family. He took great pride in his sons’ lives—coaching their sports, supporting every endeavor, and offering unwavering love through every health challenge and every joy. His nieces and nephews remember him as someone who never missed a moment that mattered, always showing up with kindness, encouragement, and love.
Rich will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
