Richard N. Flores,
Born 01/25/1959, Murray Utah, to Nicolas Tinejara Flores and Ollie Dean Stevens Flores, lost his long battle with cancer surrounded by loving family and friends at home in West Jordan, UT on 03/19/2019. Raised in Murray, UT, he attend ed Liberty Elementary, Riverview Jr. High, Murray High School, and Utah Technical College (Trade Tech). Worked at J.D. McNeil Construction, West Jordan City Public Works, and the family business of Flores Doors.
He married Lydia Ann Ortiz in October of 1979. Richard's greatest joy in life was his family. Those surviving include: his wife Lydia Flores, daughters; Harmony Rowley(Toomey), Aubrey Flores(Jackson), and Brittney Flores(Kyle), grandchildren: Dominic, Bailey(Kelton), Clover, Sierra, Valkerie, Jackson, Ozzie, Nicolas, Lydia; and great grandson Edison. He is also survived by his parents Ollie Dean Espinoza and Nicolas T. Flores(Vi); siblings: Ric Gire(Patti), Robert Flores(Rose), RoAnne Beets(Mike); step-siblings Joseph Perry(Shauna), Margaret(Sergio), Joseph Fermin Jr.(Betty), Jessie (Dianna), Christopher, and Severo; mother-in-law Sienna Ortiz; and sister-in- law Linda Ortiz Andersen(Curtis).
Richard has such an amazing extended family all across the U.S. who have been so supportive of him along this journey. That includes members of the Flores, Stevens, Espinoza, and Ortiz families spread across Utah, Wyoming, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, and North Carolina. Not mentioned are more friends than any of us could ever count. Truthfully anyone who came into his life whether through business or fun grew to be family.
Richard is preceded in death by: his grandparents Archie & Edna Stevens, and Natividad Flores-Villareal; sister Susanna, step-father Joseph Fermin Espinoza; step-siblings Genevieve, James, and Raymond; and father-in-law Candido Ortiz, and several very good friends.
He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He never passed up a chance to help someone out. It didn't matter if it meant taking someone in, or finding that one thing you needed in his treasure trove of stuff. Richard was always the life of the party. He leaves us all with unlimited memories of good times, good food, great costumes and a whole lot of laughs. Please join us in celebrating his life and sharing these memories. .
Open house style Memorial Gathering Apr. 26th 3-8 pm at Therese Catholic Parish Hall 624 W. Lennox St (off Allen St) Midvale, UT. And because Richard’s life couldn’t possibly be honored without having an awesome backyard party for his wide circle of friends and family, a Celebration of Life will also be held Apr. 27th, 4pm at Richard’s home 8482 S. Redwood Rd West Jordan, UT. 84088. During the celebration of life on Saturday, we ask that everyone wear his favorite color, purple, in honor of our beloved son, brother, husband, dad, and granddad. Both Memorial gathering (26th) and celebration of life (27th) will be potluck, and any contributions will be much appreciated. Flowers and donations to help with medical costs from three years of battling cancer may be sent to Lydia Flores at their home. Many thanks to Huntsman Cancer Institute & Huntsman At Home for their care and kindness over the last few years.
