Richard Morris Hodges' Obituary
Richard Morris Hodges was born in Salt Lake City on September 12, 1930. The second child of DeVora McBride Hodges and Alden Nelson Hodges. Richard had five brothers and two sisters: Nadine and Iris, brothers Cleon Freddie, Terry and Gerry Hodges.
Richard has a son Richard Clay Hodges and stepson James Donald Anthony.
Richard spent his growing up years in Smithfield, UT in beautiful Cache Valley. He attended school at Smithfield Summit and Smithfield Junior High and graduated in 1948 from North Cache High School. Richard was an accomplished athlete winning letters in football, basketball and baseball while at North Cache. He also lettered in baseball at Utah State Agricultural College. Richard attended college at Utah State. His education there was interrupted when his Smithfield National Guard Unit was deployed to Korea with the 204th Field Artillery Battalion arriving in Korea February 2, 1951. He served his country honorably and returned home in January 1952 with the rank of Master Sergeant.
After completing his bachelor's degree in business at Utah State, Richard entered the management program with Del Monte Foods. After a year and a half Richard took a management position with Marquardt Industries in Utah. After a few years with Marquardt, Richard accepted a management position with Litton Industries in California. In the Aero Products Division of Litton, he was then promoted to Vice President of Product Support. This required him to travel extensively, including around the world six times. His travel companion, most of the time, his wife of 53 years, Alicia Anthony-Hodges.
After almost 20 years with Litton Industries Richard retired to a beautiful golf course in Flagstaff, AZ, Forest Highland Country Club where he spent the next 15 years. He returned to Utah spending the next 24 years residing in beautiful Mantua, Utah.
Richard quietly passed away April 30, 2024.
