Richard Don McCullough
Richard (Rick) Don McCullough, 70, died unexpectedly March 24, 2023, at Parker Adventist Hospital due to complications from an accidental fall. He was born March 26, 1952 in Rigby, Idaho, the son of Don and Colleen Kaye (Oliverson) McCullough.
Rick attended Ricks College, in Rexburg, ID where he met and fell in love with his sweetheart, Christine Bird. After he returned from serving in the Sacramento, CA North mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he and Christine married on August 31, 1973. He later graduated from Idaho State University in 1977 with a bachelor’s in accounting. He was recruited into the FBI in 1982 and served as a Special Agent for 23 years before retiring in 2004. Rick then worked for Homeland Security for an additional several years.
Rick enjoyed sailing, wood carving, watching movies, playing billiards and in his later years, golfing, and spending time at his family cabin in Mink Creek, ID. He loved ice cream, gummy bears, steak and potatoes, collecting watches and anything with a motor. He was known to be kind, generous, a hard worker and enjoyed doing acts of service. He genuinely loved being with family and friends and was the world’s best grandpa to his eight grandchildren who adored him.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Christine; his sons Jason Don McCullough (Andrea) and Richard Perry McCullough (Melissa); his daughters, Richelle Kaye McCullough and Nikole Christine Turken (Seth); and his eight grandchildren, Kloe McCullough, Ella Mae Dell McKinnon, Finley Christine McKinnon, Wyatt Alden McCullough, Liam Porter McCullough, Jackson Gunner McCullough, Richard Luke McCullough and Coleton Bruce McCullough.
Funeral Services will include a viewing held at 10 a.m. followed by a service of remembrance at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1st at the Welby Stake Center, 8841 S. 4800 W. West Jordan, UT 84088. Interment will be at the Mink Creek Cemetery in Preston, ID. Arrangements by Premier Mortuary, Midvale, UT.
