Richard Aikens Smith passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family members on March 13th, 2018.
Richard is survived by his wife LaRee and his children Cynthia Rose of Colorado, Douglas Smith(Mary) of Provo, UT Jeffrey Smith(Randi) of Sandy, UT Julianne Smith, Stan Smith(Angie) of Green River, WY and his 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and LaRee’s 6 children, 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Richard’s first wife Doris, daughter Jacqueline, son-in-law Bryant Rose and Daughter-in-law Tawna , proceeded him in death.
Richard was born January 3rd 1926 in Snowflake, Arizona to Asahel and Pauline Udall Smith.
Richard was an Ensign in the Navy during WW2. He married Doris Barber in 1948. They were married for 57 years and had 6 children. He graduated as a Civil Engineer from University of California at Berkeley. He was the General Manager and Chief Engineer of two water districts. He served as a Bishop and as a counselor in a Stake Presidency.
Richard served full time missions to India and Mexico with his wife Doris. He also served three stake Missions and three church Service Missions.
Richard married LaRee in July,2008. They enjoyed singing in choirs and attending concerts, and church activities. They had a happy life together.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Orem Sunset Heights chapel located at 500 South 600 West, Orem Utah. Visitation will be from 12:00 till 12:45 PM. Burial will be at the Provo City Cemetery.
