Richard Gene Squires' Obituary
Richard Gene Squires, 59, of Clearfield, Utah, died Friday, October 25, 2013, at Ogden Regional Medical Center in Ogden, Utah, of complications following colon cancer surgery.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 30, at 10 a.m. at the Greenleaf LDS Ward building at 2160 West Gordon Avenue in Layton, Utah.
Richard was born November 23, 1953, in Crocker, Missouri, to Virginia Blanch Gan and Edwin Gene Squires. He grew up in Crocker and attended schools there. At 17, he joined the Navy and served until 1973.
He married Celia Aimee Caron August 3, 1974, in Durkee, Oregon, and they had one daughter, Shauna, in 1975. They also raised their nephew, Micah Woods, as their son.
He was a truck driver for most of his life and has lived in Montana, Washington, New Mexico, and Missouri. He had a strong work ethic and believed in helping others whenever he could. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and collecting antiques.
He is survived by his wife, Celia of Clearfield, Utah; a son, Micah Woods of Washington Terrace, Utah; a daughter, Shauna Decker of Powell, Wyoming; a granddaughter, Reilly, and five grandsons, Jason, Ryker, Calvin, Connor, and Caden; sisters, Angelia Kelsey of South Weber, Utah, and Jo Cagle of Springfield, Missouri; and brother, Jack Squires of Clearfield, Utah.
