Ricky Lee Barker's Obituary
Ricky Lee Barker, living in North Ogden Utah, passed away peacefully with several of his children at his side on Nov. 16, 2023.
Rick was born on Feb. 12, 1956 to Richard Louis and Patricia Barker in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
He joined the U.S. Navy at 18 years old; went on several tours on the USS Sacramento overseas, then went on to further his education after being honorably discharged in 1978.
Rick joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when he was 18 years old while in the Navy and has been true to his beliefs his entire life. He recently served in the Elders Quorum presidency in his congregation at The Lodge in North Ogden.
After graduating with a manufacturing engineering degree from Brigham Young University in 1984, Rick landed a job with the Boeing Company in Renton, Washington. He traveled the world for Boeing to instruct mechanics on how to fix grounded airplanes.
He met his spouse, Karen Atterton in 1977 and had five wonderful children, Lisa, Timber, Matt, Mandy and Julie. He loved them all dearly and was blessed with 14 grandchildren he also loved very much.
He retired from Boeing in 2010 and spent a few years in North Dakota, then moved to North Ogden to be close to his children and grandchildren.
Rick was predeceased by his father, Richard Barker, his mother Patti, brother Mitch and sisters Penny Marie and Cindy. He is survived by all of his children, brothers Dave, Daniel, Jay, and sister Kitty.
Services will be held at the LDS church;480 west 2000 north Harrisville Utah on Dec. 2.
Viewing 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and funeral proceedings at 11 a.m. Rick will be laid to rest at the Ben Lomond Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to J and Julie Meier, Rick’s daughter and son-in-law, as this would be Rick’s last wish to help them with J’s Stage 4 cancer battle for the second time. (GoFundMe: Support the Meier Family’s Battle with Cancer)
