Ricky Burr's Obituary
Ricky peacefully passed away on August 8th, after a brave three-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones and will be deeply missed. Ricky was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin and friend, whose life was marked by unwavering strength, boundless kindness, and an enduring love for his family and friends. Always ready with a witty joke or story, relevant song, goofy dance or comforting hug and warm touch, Ricky has left an impression on his family and friends that will last a lifetime.
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Ricky was the cherished son of Ronald and Peggie Burr. He grew up alongside his three brothers sharing many adventures and a love of the outdoors together. He was a proud graduate of Granite High School, class of 1981. He had a dedicated career journey. For 15 years he worked at Sweet’s Candy Company. Later, he transitioned to BFI and Waste Management where he spent 20 years.
Ricky loved the outdoors, finding joy in camping, fishing, boating and hunting. He cherished the moments spent exploring nature and sharing these experiences with loved ones. He also had a love for traveling, attending car shows and proudly driving his emerald green Camaro. His enthusiasm for these activities showed in his genuine delight when sharing them with family and friends, creating lasting memories and enriching the lives of those around him.
His greatest legacy, however, was his immense love for his family. Ricky dedicated his life to nurturing and supporting his family. He will be remembered for the values instilled in his family: kindness, generosity, dependability, and a strong sense of togetherness. This love will continue to guide his family for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wallace and Lilace Worthen, June and Irene Burr; his father, Ronald Burr; his brother, Wayne Burr; his uncle and aunts, Alan Burr, Spencer and Carol Worthen, and Joanne Lovendahl.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kristy Burr; his children, Christopher Vaughn (Becca), Jesse Dyer (Matt), Destiny Robles (David); his grandchildren, Aria, Noah, Landon, Sienna, Eden, Tristan, and Anna; his mother, Peggy Burr; father-in-law John Knudsen; his brothers, Martin and Blaine Burr; brother in-law Richard Knudsen (Ashley), his nieces and nephews, Jana Boydston (Alec), David Burr (Brianna), Kelly, Anthony and Mia Knudsen; his great nephews, Alex, Bjorn, and Kayson. Ricky will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His memory will live in the hearts of the countless lives he touched through his generosity, love, and laughter.
