Rita Kay Hinman's Obituary
A former resident of The Dalles Oregon, Rita Hinman, passed quietly in her home in West Valley City Utah, on June 22, 2012 after struggling with multiple long term health issues. She was born July 15, 1950 in Pendleton Oregon to Byron “Butch” and Pauline Moyer. She was a 1968 graduate of Gresham High School, and went on to study at BYU where she became a pen pal of her future sweetheart Clayton Hinman. They were married on May 22, 1976 in Beaufort South Carolina where Clayton was stationed in the Marine Corps. They later moved back to Oregon, and settled in The Dalles in 1987 where she remained until 2010. She had fond memories of her time in The Dalles, and the friendships she made while working at the bowling alley, through her volunteer work with various organizations, and her church associations. Rita was very creative, and loved to quilt, sew, scrapbook, and to read. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Rita” by many children that she loved as her own. She was preceded in death by her father Byron Moyer. She is survived by her husband Clayton Hinman, daughters Heidi Hinman and Sabrina (Brandon) Woolsey, Grandchildren Kalissa and Kaeson Woolsey, Mother Pauline Moyer, Siblings Roxanne (Alan) Stonewall, Roger (Tarrie) Moyer, Raynae (Mark) Hopkins, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She will be loved and missed deeply. Condolences may be sent to the Hinman Family: 3513 S. 5450 W. , West Valley City, UT. 84120. In lieu of flowers we would like to send our appreciation to the VistaCare Hospice foundation for the wonderful care given. Donations may be made online at: gentivahospicefoundation.org.
