Robert Wade Anderson's Obituary
Robert Wade Anderson of Herriman, UT died April 23, 2013 after battling his personal 800lb gorilla (cancer) for 15 months; Robert was born February 18th, 1957 in San Jose, CA to loving parents Bob & Vera Anderson. Robert was married for 38 years to his high school sweet heart and love of his life, Colleen Beth Anderson and together they raised their family; Steven (Jeri), Angela (Jen) and James Anderson. Robert loved being a father and Pappy to his grandchildren (Zach, Taylor, Braxton, Laithe, Hannah and great-granddaughter Finnlee) and encouraged them to excel in every endeavor.
Robert was an avid traveler and skilled outdoorsman who love to camp, fish, hunt, race his John Deer and drive Ford trucks. He viewed any journey of 1500 miles worthy of his time and would embark with good coffee (black) and homemade breakfast burritos to explore the country that he loved. Robert was a talented, detail oriented perfectionist gifted with the skill and the tenacity to repair any device known to man with a length of rope, a stick of gum, a 9 volt battery and a tube sock.
Robert loved his job. As a dedicated employee of Williams Pipeline, Robert would never ask a fellow employee to do any job that he was not willing to perform himself, a trait that won him the loyalty and respect of his coworkers.
Robert was the quintessential Marine (74-83) quietly completing assignments, asking for no public recognition or individual glory yet ever faithful to his convictions. He loved his wife, family, country and a good glass of scotch.
He is survived by his parents, brothers, David (Gina), Joe (Kathy) and Doug (Janet) Anderson and many other family members whom he loved and enjoyed being with immensely. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anita, as well as his grandparents.
A remembrance of his life will take place May 8th at Red Butte Gardens (300 Wakara Way, SLC) from 5:00-9:00 pm where friends and family will gather in honor of his memory. As a symbolic celebration of his life, Spring colored attire is encouraged.
The family would like to thank the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the care, compassion and support given to Robert during his treatment regime.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Robert W. Anderson Memorial Fund at any America First Credit Union, with the funds being used to start a foundation for children with special needs, per his request.
