Robert Henry Anderson's Obituary
June 27, 1950 – November 30, 2025
Robert Henry Anderson, 75, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025. Born in Ephrata, Washington, to Verna and “Swede” Anderson, he was the youngest of four children.
Robert graduated from Ephrata High School in 1968 and Brigham Young University in 1971. In 1972, he married Linda Fish Buchanan in the Salt Lake Temple.
A man of faith, compassion, and service, Robert devoted his life to helping others. He began his career as a drama teacher, later worked for Prudential Insurance, and owned the Country Inn Steakhouse. He earned a Doctorate in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work, establishing a private practice in Ogden, Utah.
Robert’s service extended to his community in many ways. He directed numerous community and church theatre productions, served actively in the Boy Scouts of America—especially the Order of the Arrow—and was a longtime member of Kiwanis. Through the LDS Church welfare program and his work with the National Foster Parent Association, he strengthened and inspired families across the country. He taught his children to love service through his example of serving others.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and high adventure. Robert spent many days hiking the Wind Rivers Range, skiing Utah’s mountains, scuba diving, and enjoying the freedom of riding motorcycles. His adventurous spirit was a core part of who he was. In keeping with his wishes, his ashes will be spread in the Wind Rivers, a place he cherished.
Later in life, he built a cabin at Bear Lake. Robert spent many years in Garden City, surrounded by the mountains and the community he loved.
In 2020, Robert was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and later moved to Bear Creek Villas in Kaysville, Utah. His family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the facility staff and hospice team for their compassionate care.
Robert is survived by his former spouse, Linda Fish Buchanan, and their children: Cortney (Jon) Eldridge; Maranda (Jacob) Thompson; Joshua (Marzena) Anderson; and Kati (Juan) Ventura;12 grandchildren and his first great-grandchild born November 28, 2025.
Robert’s life was a testament to faith, kindness, service, and adventure. His legacy of compassion and courage will live on in all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Robert by reaching out to others in a spirit of love, kindness and service.
