Robert James Bird's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert James Bird, age 54, of Sandy, Utah. Robert passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, following a courageous battle with health complications.
Born to Wayne and Leah Bird, Robert's life was marked by his boundless enthusiasm for unique hobbies and his love for family and friends. From a young age, Robert had an eclectic taste in collections, starting with hub caps as a child, then amassing an impressive array of Tasmanian Devil memorabilia, and later a vast collection of Matchbox cars and Egyptian Art. His passion for these collections brought him joy and provided cherished memories.
Robert's love for cooking was well-known among those who knew him. He delighted in creating delicious meals and sharing them with his loved ones. Another of his great loves was the beautiful state of Hawaii, a place that held a special place in his heart and where he found much happiness.
Known for his sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, Robert had a talent for making others laugh. He often shared his humor on Facebook, bringing smiles to the faces of his friends and family.
Robert is survived by his loving siblings: Linda Bowen (Don Bowen), Kristy Fullmer (Scott Fullmer), Kevin Bird, and LeAnn Madsen (Dan Madsen). He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Leah Bird.
Ten years ago, Robert suffered a stroke and recently battled sepsis. Through it all, he remained resilient and his spirit unwavering. His wishes were to be cremated and remembered in a joyous celebration of his life.
A Life Celebration in honor of Robert will be held on Saturday, June 15th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the home of his sister, Kristy Fullmer, located at 7019 S 260 East, Midvale, Utah. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and remember the wonderful person Robert was.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert’s name to a charity of your choice.
Robert's warmth, humor, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love and passion will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
