Robert Gerald White's Obituary
Robert Gerald White passed away at the age of 75 on August 9, 2018 in West Jordan Utah. Bob was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.
Bob was born September 22, 1942 in Salt Lake City Utah to David Virgil White and Etta Vilate White. Bob was raised in South Salt Lake and was a graduate of Granite High School. While attending Granite High Bob excelled in sports football, basketball, and baseball. Bob in particular excelled in baseball where he was an all-star. Bob shared this great love of sports with his children and taught all of his kids how to play baseball, basketball, football and even tennis. He was his children's number one fan standing on the sidelines while watching them play sports or compete in dance competitions. Bob had a great love for fishing that started as a young boy with is dad and he also passed this love along to his children and grandchildren. Bob was an amazing singer and could make up a song to answer any question his children may have like “Are we there yet.” Bob love to travel and take his family on road trips sometimes not letting us kids know where we were going until we had arrived. Bobs greatest love was his family especially his children and grandchildren which he had such love and support for he was such an amazing dad. His big heart, love and amazing sense of humor will be forever missed.
Bob married his first wife Dwala Hansen in 1963 together they had 3 beautiful children (Christine, Jon, and Todd). Bob had a successful 40 year career as a retail manager for Skaggs, Osco Drug, and retiring with Smith's Food and Drug. While working for Skaggs Bob met his second wife Virginia Carole Oppel (Ginny). Bob, and Ginny were married June of 1978 where Bob was blessed with 3 step children (Terry, Paul, and Dawn). Bob and Ginny also had four more kids between them during the time of their marriage (Nicole, Aaron, Tasha, and Alycia) they were married for 32 years until the time of Ginny’s passing and sealed in the LDS temple on September 11, 1987.
Bob is survived by his loving sisters, Nancy Strong, Carol Hadlock, and Terri Dietz (Tony), his loving children, Christine Birdwell, Jon White, Todd White, Terry Mason, (Scot), Paul Bishop, Dawn Bishop, Nicole Punzo (Oscar), Aaron White, Alycia Wright (Josh), his grandchildren Amanda Gill (Scott), Zachery Birdwell, Skyler Tapia, Austin White, Samantha Hobbs (Dustin), Mykayla Hobbs, Hunter White, Winston Birdwell, Elizabeth White, Meadow White, Audrey White, and Jessa Wright and his great grandson Derek Dickerson. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Virginia White, his daughter Tasha White, his brothers David White, and Donald White, and his son in law Vince Birdwell.
Services will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Jordan Oaks 1st Ward at 8117 South Leslie Drive West Jordan, Utah 84088. Funeral services provided by Premier Funeral Services.
