My dear Rodney,
I miss you. Tears swell up when I think of Rodney and the life that he lived. He became part of our family when he lived in St. Joseph Villa Skilled nursing facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rodney was a blessing in my life as he helped care for my dad, at St. Joseph.
Rodney loved my dad, Tony. They became best friends, both serving each other the best you could. Now their love and friendship will continue.
After Tony died in June of 2018, I developed a special friendship with Rodney.
I visited him at St. Joseph and I am so blessed to have taken him to the Salt Lake Temple with lunch in the cafeteria after the session. Oh, how you loved the temple. One time he took me on a tour of the Salt Lake temple in parts that others don't see. He knew and loved the Salt Lake Temple.
On many Sundays Rodney would go with me as we went to our friends living in St. Joseph. Sharing a uplifting message and ending with singing his favorite hymn "I Am A Child of God"
On Thanksgiving dinner for family and residence, all he wanted was mashed potatoes without gravy. He loved mashed potatoes and peanut butter sandwiches.
Rodney was innocent, that is how I describe him. Pure sincere love for others, kind and innocent.
Till we meet again Rodney, I love you.
Nan Bernard
