I was always amazed at how Kind & gentle Roger & sweet Rose were, & always so very helpful they were to us, Even to my parents, (the late Gordon & Mavis Duke), even though they were extremely busy with their wonderful family.We were always welcomed into their home & I felt the spirit there, and the warmth of their love for family & friends, Roger also gave me great advice if I had a question on how to fix any thing mechanical, he was a great friend & mentor throughout my life, Rose was always there to help also, they were a great inspiration to me & my family, He will be sorely missed & I missed my chances to come see him when I was prompted to & Will always remember him when I work on projects he guided me on. Roger was a very honest person. He was always there to help. He helped Uncle Richard with anything. One day he was trimming bushes and mowing the lawn. This was the summer we moved to Utah. I had a huge picture window that was awesome. One day I was cleaning my room with the curtains back to have a view. So I was goofing off as I listened to my music. Singing into a hair brush and dancing. Suddenly I turned around and there, trimming the bushes was Roger. I was mortified. when I looked at him in shock he clapped his hands like an audience should. Finally I got the courage to go out and talk to him. He told me, "that is why we close the blinds. He was blunt, silly and very Christ like. I loved him for his honesty and integrity. I also loved him because he would not hesitate to share his feelings. If a shirt was not appropriate or modest he would tell me. He would teach and help me to understand the purpose of these rules.Leroy also loved him so much. He said all the time that Roger was a Jack of all trades. Meaning that he could fix anything and he did. He taught me how important it was to always be honest, read the scriptures, and stay obedient to God's laws and suddenly through these trials I would one day realize what a person of Integrity was about. Thank you Roger for your faith in me...It was a gift. We love you Mary Brown Corey aka Dink and family.
Roger loved the babies! He seemed to be the happiest when surrounded by his children and then grandchildren! I'll never forget coming to visit Rose and Roger and finding Roger sitting in a wading pool splashing and playing with the babies in the water!! Roger will be greatly missed...
