Romona Frances Randles' Obituary
Romona Frances Randles, 81, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2022 at her home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born deaf November 20, 1941 to Frank and Geraldine Jandle in East Hanover, New Jersey.
Romona had 2 children from a previous marriage, Jay and Jayne, who are also deaf. She met the love of her life and best friend, James Ernest Randles, while living in southern California. They were married on November 12, 1971 in North Hollywood. They were blessed with three children: James, Jennifer, and Julietta whom they were sealed to for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Romona loved being a mom and was so very proud of all of her children. They have always been her Pride and Joy. She knew the most important thing she could do in this life was to be a good Mother.
Romona served in many church callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including multiple times as Relief Society President where she was known for strengthening and inspiring many wonderful deaf sisters. Romona and Jim were called to serve a full-time ASL mission as a couple in the Independence Missouri Mission which they thoroughly enjoyed. She also served as a Special Service Ordinance worker in the Las Vegas and St. George temples.
She had a great love for adventure and was quite the thrill seeker. Sailing, off-roading, and visiting haunted houses were no match for her adventurous spirit. She loved horseback riding and attending sporting events, dance recitals, and other activities for her kids and grand-kids.
She had a kind and patient nature and made everyone feel comfortable to communicate with her, even if they made mistakes with Sign Language.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Geraldine Jandle, her brother Danny and sister Janine and her beloved husband James and his son Tommy. She is survived by her children Jay Thexton, Jayne Bustamante, James Randles, Jennifer Manwaring, and Julietta Rad, and grandchildren Clark, Lauren, Nick, Jack, Nate, and Ava Manwaring, and Rochelle Curtis, James, and William Randles, and Ariel Dolinar, Jeriel, Jaron, and Jaedon Thexton, as well as Ramy IV and Jarita Bustamante and great-grandchildren Jack, Daphne and Zoe Dolinar, Liam and Ocean Curtis and Grace Manwaring, and her siblings: Gloria Lusk, Kathleen Notariano, Cynthia Madonna, and David Jandle
Romona’s grave-side and internment service will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery at 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
