Ronald Grant Johnson's Obituary
Our beloved father, grandpa, brother, Ronald Grant Johnson also known as Ron and R J, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Ron was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, November 15, 1953 to H. Grant Johnson and Helen Stanworth Johnson. He was the third child of four and the only boy. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah.
His parents divorced when he was a teenager. When his dad got remarried Ron moved to Brigham City with them. He and his sisters would spend his summers in Monroe with their dad and Johnson side of the family. Where he enjoyed fishing at Fish Lake, deer and pheasant hunting with his cousin Don whom was like a brother to him. He also enjoyed camping and riding horses his dad owned. After Ron graduated high school he enlisted in the Army, and served as a helicopter mechanic during the final years of the Vietnam War. After he finished his 4-year enlistment, he went and worked for his dad and step-mom, Traudy – they owned Ogden Muffler and Speed. That is where he learned to how to work on vehicles. He excelled at installing mufflers. He also worked at many other muffler shops in Ogden, Layton, Roy, Clearfield, and the Salt Lake City area. Later in live he cleaned vacant apartments with his daughter, Andie, for a few years. Then he worked for Max Towing Company in Ogden until he suffered a heart attack and stroke in June 2021. He was in the hospital for a couple of months, and then went into the memory care unit at Heritage Park in Roy, Utah where he was diagnosed with dementia. He caught Covid, then developed pneumonia and his health declined rapidly. He was put on Hospice seven days before his passing.
Ron was always a hard worker. He loved being outdoors. He enjoyed doing yard work and gardening.
Ron leaves behind is oldest sister, Roxie Rameson of Visalia, California; his youngest sister, Debbie (Stan) Poorman of Syracuse.
Ron never married, but he had five children that he loved, and was very proud of. He is survived by four of his children, Maria Snyder of Layton, Andrea (Michael) Smith of Syracuse, Sarah Johnson of Roy, Boomer Johnson of Layton. He has three granddaughters, Jaelynn, Addylin, Azalee, and two grandsons, Jordan and KJ., as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Helen, his stillborn son, Marcos Johnson, and his sister Ann Davis.
A viewing will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022, 8:30 am to 9:45 am, followed by funeral services at 10:00 am at Premier Funeral Services, 67 E. 8000 So. Midvale, Utah. Burial will be at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. (For those only attending the graveside services please plan on 11:30 am.)
