Ron was born on November 4, 1941, in Bellingham, Washington, to Roger Warren Moss and Helen Kay Murphy. He loved the Pacific Northwest, and always loved to go back and visit. One of his last family vacations was showing his grandchildren the sights from his childhood in Washington. After graduating high school Ron joined the coast guard and honorably served for 6 years. He became a certified scuba diver, went on many dives, and this experience gave him a lifelong passion for water sports. Ron got his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University in Anthropology, his MBA at the University of Utah, his PHD at Kent State University, and lastly his law degree at Northern Illinois University. He had a passion for learning, and encouraged all of his children and grandchildren to pursue a higher education. Especially with his grandchildren, he always was interested in their academic pursuits, and offered great advice and words of encouragement.
Ron married the love of his life, Sheila Hawkins, on May 26, 1967 in the Salt Lake City temple. They were married for 57 years, and together, they built a life full of cherished memories. Their bond was an example of unwavering support and devotion. Ron was a proud father to Jennifer Reed (Nathaniel), Ryan Moss (Caroline), Brandon Moss (Kathryn), Amanda Thompson (Rob), and Melissa Robbins (Brandon). He had 19 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren who he loved, and adored. His love for his family was evident in all he did, and he will be deeply missed by them all.
A man of many talents, Ron was a dedicated volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, serving in many roles, including scout master. Over those years, he mentored and encouraged many young men to receive their eagle rank, including his two sons. Ron was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served in many callings. His reputation for integrity and dedication was known far and wide, and he made many lifelong friendships through his work.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kay Moss, and his daughter Melissa Robbins. He is survived by his wife Sheila, his children, grandchildren, and other family who will remember him for his warmth, his laughter, and his unwavering support.
