Ronnie Nick Sofonia, 76, Passed away on December 21, 2015
Born February 20, 1939 to Nick and Leona Sofonia in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Married Christel Nigbur July 26, 1967 later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September 24, 1983.
They are the parents of three children, Tammy (Greg) Harper, Brad (Sara) Sofonia, and Todd (Jackie) Sofonia.
Ron graduated from West High School in 1958 where he excelled in basketball and football, achieving All State Honors. Throughout his life, he continued his love of competitive sports. Also among his passions were fishing, camping, caring for and riding his horses.
Ron was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving valiantly in many capacities.
He is survived by his wife, their children, and 12 grand children, who were the light of his life. Ron is also survived by three sons Scott (Mandy), Steve, and Bryan, his sister, Lavon Boulton and sister in law Gayle Naylor.
Ron was truly a gentle giant.
We will miss him.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28th at 12:00 Noon at the Quail Run LDS chapel, 9245 Quail Run Drive (2300 East) Sandy, UT. The viewing will be held on Monday prior to the services from 10:00am to 11:45am.
