Rosalea "Rosie" Marie Wood's Obituary
Rosie Wood, 65, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 13, 2014 at her home in Pleasant Grove after a long illness.
Rosie was born March 3, 1949 in Casper, Wyoming to Orvil and Thelma Scully. She was the third of four children. Rosie was blessed with a loving family who enjoyed camping, archery, hunting for arrowheads, square dancing, and being together. Her parents and siblings were a source of great joy and many happy memories.
She met her husband while attending Natrona County High School in Casper. They were married June 1, 1968, and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS temple in 1977. Their adventures in this life included two children, and took them from Wyoming to Texas and eventually to Utah.
Rosie adored children and had a talent for making them feel loved. She worked for many years as an elementary school librarian, where she shared her talent for storytelling and a passion for children’s literature. She enjoyed many years of service with the children and young women of her church. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Samantha (Greg) Collier, daughter-in-law Charlotte Wood, brother Marlan Scully, sister Janice Sandison, sister Lavaughn Wolfe, four granddaughters, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents and son, Larry Jr.
The family wishes to thank the kind staff of Hearts for Hospice, and the friends who provided support in caring for Rosie in the final weeks of her time on earth.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Rosie’s life at on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garden Grove LDS chapel, 905 North 500 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Rosie has asked that those in attendance wear bright, happy colors. Family and friends may call prior to the service from 9:00-9:45 at the chapel. The family has asked that donations be made to the Reading is Fundamental program (rif.org), in lieu of flowers.
