Rosemarie Nimer Bergquist's Obituary
Rosemarie Nimer Bergquist, age 70, passed away peacefully at the Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael, California, on Sunday, July 13, 2025. She was born July 24, 1954, in Oakland, California, to Edward Lee and Margaret Lucille (Shelley) Nimer.
Rosemarie, often referred to as Roe, met Eric Bergquist at a church activity and they were later married in the Oakland Temple, Oakland, California, on August 17, 1985. They became the parents of Nathan Edward Bergquist and then, eight years later, Ryan Eric Bergquist.
She is survived by her husband, Eric, and both her sons, Nathan and Ryan. All four of her siblings survive: Stephen (Linda) Nimer, Shelley Trucios, David (Lucinda) Nimer, and Darwin (Patricia) Nimer. The family and the many nieces and nephews will miss their aunt.
Rosemarie graduated from BYU with a degree in Nutritional Science. She then chose to serve a proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was called to Helsinki, Finland. She was able to master the language and successfully fulfill her purpose there.
She was employed by the United States Post Office and worked for many years at the front counter as well as tending to the accounts for the office where she worked in San Anselmo. She would have loved to have been a stay-at-home mom for her boys, but there was a need for her to work. Those were good years for her as she had the opportunity to spend time with her older sister, Shelley, who worked there as well.
Rosemarie will be remembered for her enduring faith, quiet resolve, determination, and her ability to smile even when life was difficult. She served faithfully as a teacher for the children in her church for nearly forty years setting good examples for all those that passed through her classes.
Her time away from work was spent with her family. She enjoyed traveling and made opportunities for her family to get together with her sister’s to build memories and bonds. Shelley’s children considered Rosemarie as a second mother.
Saturday mornings often found the sisters out treasure hunting at local garage sales. The hunt was fun but more importantly she got to spend time with her best friend, her sister, Shelley. Rosemarie was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed painting and crafting as well. In her later years, she took classes on jewelry making and many of her creations were shared with family and friends.
Her funeral was held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 890 N Heritage Hills Drive, Alpine, Utah. The burial followed immediately after the service at Highland City Cemetery, Highland, Utah. A Celebration of Life was also held for her friends and family in California on August 23, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 787 Kendon Lane, Novato, California.
