Roxie LuAnn Rhoades Fonohema Whalen's Obituary
Roxie LuAnn Rhoades Fonohema Whalen, 66, called home by Heavenly Father on May 30, 2026 in her childhood home in Orem, Utah.
Born on July 1, 1959 in Provo, Utah to Eugene Richard and Janet LuAnn Rhoades. Roxie graduated from Orem High School class of 77’ and went on to continue some education. She met her first husband Lemoto Fonohema whom they had four children together with: Lemoto, Lisiate, Moana, and Elisabeth. Later on, meeting and marrying her second husband Timothy Whalen.
Roxie was known for her kind heart, generous disposition and her never ending desire to help those who are in need. She was a caretaker through and through, starting proctor care in 1990 and continuing to help children in need for 17 years. She was a passionate creator! Always working on sewing projects, quilting, scrapbooks, and so much more. Recently volunteering at Soft Squares. Roxie was capable of creating beautiful melodies whether that was humming a tune while sewing or pulling out a microphone during karaoke. Roxie was a devout member of the LDS church who enjoyed temple work and spending time with members of her ward. Her silly disposition and dedication to helping those in need will forever leave a lasting impact on all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy Whalen; her son, Lemoto (Sara); her son, Lisiate (Paea); her daughter, Moana; her daughter, Elisabeth (Jeffery); and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gene Rhoades; her brother Kevin Rhoades (Desiree), and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Richard and Janet Rhoades.
A celebration of life will be held at 665 South 200 West Orem, Utah with a viewing on Thursday, June 4th 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday, June 5th 9:30 am to 10:30 am with funeral services on Friday at 11:00 AM.
Roxie’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering support of others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
