Roxie Inez Williams' Obituary
Roxie Inez Williams, a vibrant soul with a heart full of color and kindness, passed away peacefully just three days shy of her 97th birthday.
Born in Arkansas, Inez lost her hearing at the age of 8, a challenge she met with strength and grace. She attended the Arkansas School for the Deaf, where she met her high school sweetheart, Richard. They married when Inez turned 18 and shared 77 beautiful years together before Richard’s passing last year.
In the 1950s, with a spirit of adventure and hope, Inez and Richard packed up their young sons, Robert and Richard, and made the cross-country journey along Route 66 to California, chasing a new beginning and building a life rooted in love and resilience. In 1967 they were surprised with a new addition to their family, Kim who came along when Inez was 40 years old.
Inez was a dedicated mother to three children—Robert, Richard, and Kim—and a proud grandmother to Elizabeth, Bobby, Matthew, David, and Sierra. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave her love generously and unconditionally.
Professionally, Inez had a long and respected career at Fairchild, where she worked in the semiconductor industry as a document manager. After retiring, she found new purpose in teaching American Sign Language at Salt Lake Community College, sharing her language and her life experiences with students who quickly came to admire her.
True to her vibrant nature, Inez was known for her signature purple hair, which she wore joyfully into her later years. She loved traveling, camping, and sewing, and her greatest joy was found in her garden, where she tended her flowers with the same care and devotion, she gave to everyone in her life.
Inez will be remembered for her strength, her style, her humor, and the deep love she poured into her family and community. Her life was a testament to resilience, adventure, and enduring love.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
