Royd Eudell White's Obituary
Royd Eudell White, 83, born in Bicknell Utah on December 31, 1938 returned to our Heavenly Father and his beloved wife, Lori Dawn White on March 3, 2022, quietly at home while surrounded by his loving family, after a brief battle with cancer.
He and Lori found each other at a church dance and due to Royd’s sick dance moves, there was an immediate attraction and they were married shortly after. They were married on December 16, 1989, to create a blended family, and later sealed in the Salt Lake temple on July 27, 1991. Royd could often be seen trading sweet smiles with Lori, who he described as “the love of his life.”
He grew up in Wayne County in a loving family of nine children. He graduated from Wayne High School, where he played on the basketball and baseball teams. He moved to Salt Lake County in his early 20’s and attended trade school and worked as an automotive transmission mechanic for the majority of his professional career. He started his first family in the Glendale area of Salt Lake City married to Sharla Baker. They raised 4 children (Anna, Amy, Royd, and Brad). After they divorced Royd met Lori, they married and eventually settled in Sandy, Utah where he helped raise five additional children (Jennie, Ed, Jon, Kari, and Melissa).
Royd was a loving son, brother, father, step-father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed spending time golfing, reading cowboy westerns, fixing other people’s cars, and working out at the old Deseret Gym. He loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids in their various activities and sports. Over the past several weeks we have learned of the many, many silent acts of service that he provided to people his life. He was never one to boast or seek accolades from others, as he quietly served those he loved.
As a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings over the years and always honored his Priesthood. His scriptures were always open and laying on his kitchen table.
We will miss his voice, laughter, and contagious smile. Most of all, we will miss his quiet, humble manner of loving and serving those around him.
Royd is survived by his children, Anna (Paul) Williamson, Amy Hogge, Royd White, Bradley (Stephanie) White, Jenni Ricks, Edward Durkee, Jonathan (Chelsea) Durkee, Kari Cordi, and Melissa Dickinson. He is survived by his siblings Charlotte, John, and Nancy. He is also survived by to many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren to name. He was preceded in death by his wife Lori Dawn, his parents John Henry White and Clara Lavell White, and siblings, Arden, Lynn, Clara, Bruce, and Patsy.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and hospice staff that help him in his final days on this earth.
A celebration of Royd’s life will be held for all family and friends at the ward house of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 220 E 8670 S, Sandy, UT. Viewing services will be on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 9:30 – 10:45 am, with funeral service afterward at 11 am.
