Russell Evans Day's Obituary
Long ago and far away, in the forest of Someplace Else, lived a young boy named Russell Evans Day. Russell was born November 28, 1932 in Hunter, Utah. He was a happy little boy and grew into an amazing, loving, gentle man. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. While in the military, Russell met his eternal love and companion, Jeanine Taylor. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS temple January 14, 1955. Russell was the best dad on the planet to his 5 children, Russell Taylor Day, Becky Fawn Day (Rueckert), Stephen Evans Day, Susan Faline Day, and Shawn Taylor Day. He created many loved bedtime stories for them, and later published their favorite “HOOT-U-EE”. Russell spent his life giving to others. He considered everyone he saw an instant friend. He worked as a mechanical engineer and later as an aero space engineer for NASA. Children loved and sought to be around him, especially his grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Ian, EZ, Winter, Jeorgi, Alix, James, Jacob, Brian, Allen, Matthew, David, and Mark, and his 21 great-grandchildren. On the morning of October 10, 2021, Russell flew home to be with his beloved wife, and slept all day long. We love you dad.
Instead of a funeral service Russell Day requested that all his family and friends gather on his lawn at 3789 S. 5200 W, in West Valley City, Utah. Open house style gathering from 2 – 5pm. Starting with a memorial , then roasting hotdogs and marshmallows at the fire pit. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree somewhere. Internment will be at the Pleasant Green Cemetery.
