Ruth Colleen Grimmett Palfreyman's Obituary
Ruth Colleen Grimmett Palfreyman, beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away June 15, 2011, at the age of 76, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She is finally free from her fight with cancer that she courageously endured for over 21 years.
Colleen was born December 8, 1934, to Richard G. and MacCene Maynard Grimmett in Provo, Utah. She attended Lincoln High School and BYU. She married Patry L. Curtis in 1955 and was later divorced. She married Robert E. Palfreyman on September 19, 1968 and was later divorced.
Colleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She was a champion of all people, especially those with special needs, and worked for many years within the pageant system, helping with both the Miss Springville and Miss Utah State Fair pageants. For over 20 years she worked for Mervyns Corporation, where she made many beloved friends. Colleen loved her family and gave selflessly to them at all times. When she was ill, she was worried more about others than her own needs. She quietly served and loved all, trying to strengthen those around her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Grimmett, two grandsons, and one nephew. She is survived by her mother, MacCene Grimmett-Provo, her daughters, Kim (Gene) Bond-Orem, Keri Beardall-Springville, her sisters, Karen (Blaine) Quarnstrom-Spanish Fork, Dixie Grimmett-Huntington Beach, CA, Penny Spresser-Spanish Fork, Mary Tilson-Provo. Also surviving her are step-children, Shanna Rae (Glen) Burgener, Tami (Horace) Ferran, Shane Palfreyman, Mike (Julie) Palfreyman, Clay (Pam) Palfreyman, Valerie Tregeagle, Tara(Trent)Allred. Colleen also has 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Hobble Creek 7th Ward chapel at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Monday June 20, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and the day of the service from 9:45-10:45 a.m at the same location -Hobble Creek 7th Ward, 1965 E Canyon Rd., Springville, UT.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Tudor for his constant care, Central Utah Clinic, and the great care from Vista Hospice Care.
