Samantha Nicole Beenken's Obituary
“THERE ARE SOME WHO BRING A LIGHT SO GREAT TO THE WORLD THAT EVEN AFTER THEY HAVE GONE, THE LIGHT REMAINS”
Samantha Nicole Beenken, 37, of Provo, Utah, passed away on July 27, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
Sammy was born in Provo, Utah, in 1988 to Charles and Tammy Colebrook. She loved building forts with her brothers and cousins and was an incredible big sister to her four younger brothers. She cherished family trips to Lake Powell and had a passion for soccer, playing varsity as a freshman at North Sanpete High School.
Throughout her life, Sammy held many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From serving as Beehive class president to Primary President, and later as Relief Society President in her singles ward, she dedicated herself fully to each role. She eventually moved to Provo, Utah, while studying at San Juan College, where she earned her associate degree. It was during this time that she met her eternal companion.
Sammy met DJ Beenken while attending the Mount Timpanogos Temple for a mutual friend’s endowment. It was love at first sight, and they were sealed in July 2011, just six months later.
Sammy and DJ eagerly began building a family, and their children were the center of their world. Their first son, Taren Brady, was born 13 months later, followed by Aiden Wesley, Owen Kenneth, and Bennett Edward. Sammy had always dreamed of being a full-time mother, and she was truly exceptional in that role. Raising her four boys was the greatest joy and accomplishment of her life.
Sammy was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She gave her time and energy to make sure everyone felt loved, included, and cared for.
Those who knew Sammy knew her deep love for soccer. She played weekly with her soccer group for years, finding joy not only in the game but also in the friendships it brought. She especially loved coaching and watching her son Aiden who thrived on the soccer field. Sammy also enjoyed outdoor adventures, traveling, and creating unforgettable experiences with her close friends and family.
Sammy lived a life full of purpose and light. She brought joy wherever she went, lifted those around her, and inspired others to be their best selves. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every day.
She is survived by her husband, DJ; their four sons, Taren, Aiden, Owen, and Bennett; her parents, Tammy and Chuck Colebrook; and her four younger brothers, Jordon, Brady, Cody, and Cameron.
