Samuel Scott Kalm's Obituary
Brother, Uncle, Friend, Scott Kalm age 66, passed away surrounded by his family on August 14, 2024 after a good life filled with many physical challenges including Parkinson’s disease since age 39.
Scott was born on November 25, 1957 in Salt Lake City, the fourth of seven children of Samuel Kalm and Jeniel Barlow. From the time he was a child Scott worked closely with his family learning all the arts of home and sports, and the outdoors. He loved scouts and became an eagle scout. He liked working with his hands, home gardening, yard maintenance, little league baseball, and ice hockey. He loved spending time with his siblings.
Following graduation from Cottonwood High School, Scott started working in heating and air conditioning. Crawling in attics, and under houses, dragging heating ducts up and down ladders after he made what was needed for each job. This all took place in the cold, freezing climate of winter in Salt Lake City, and the extreme hot, hot summers.
He resided in the Salt Lake Valley, leaving for a short term stay in Wyoming.
At the age of 39 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. This changed everything. He retrained his skills in massage therapy, and opened and ran “Relief thru Massage” for over 15 years.
Scott always spent holidays with family.
He is preceded in death by both parents, two baby sisters, Jeannine & Afton Marie. Survived by Kathy (Lyle) Williams, Karen Kalm, Kristine (Brad) Handley, Steve (Mai) Kalm, Jeff (Genaliza) Kalm, Casey Kalm, 10 nieces and nephews and their families.
We express our appreciation to the special caregivers at Cedarwood Senior Living Center and IMC Hospice, for their compassionate care.
Interment at Elysian Gardens Cemetery located at 1075 East 4580 South.
The world has lost a kind, incredible brother, friend, and man who will forever be in our hearts as we remember one who would and did do anything for others.
