Sandy was a dear friend to me for many years. I first met her when I had the opportunity to be her visiting teacher with Dawn Belka as my companion. Years later, Sandy and I were visiting teaching companions. Sandy was a wonderful example, and she would always pray for our sisters in the car before we left to visit them.
Sandy and I served in primary together. She was my son's nursery leader and primary teacher with her husband, Kevin, and later served as primary secretary while I was primary president. Sandy was reliable and organized. She did a wonderful job keeping track of all the primary records and making sure that we never missed a child's birthday. When she was diagnosed with cancer, she continued serving faithfully in her calling.
Sandy was always willing to help with my babies in the back of the primary room. She had a heart of gold and loved the little ones! I remember her bringing me dinner in the last few weeks of my pregnancy because she knew I was overwhelmed with working on my degree and trying to take care of my family. She also gave us some outfits and diapers for our babies.
Sandy was never one to enjoy the spotlight. After knowing her for years, I learned of her talent for painting, and I was a little mad that I'd seen the paintings in her house so many times but had never known they were hers!
Sandy was a hard worker. She loved her husband dearly and always spoke very fondly of him. She was selfless and kind, quiet and reflective.
Sandy was a light in my life, and I am blessed to have known her.
