Sandra Ekin Shope's Obituary
Sandra Ekin Shope, 81, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, passed away on January 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in Layton, Utah, USA. She was born on January 22, 1945, in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, the daughter of John and Florence Ekin.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Shope; her siblings Janet Richards Dave) and Russel Ekin (Jan); her daughter, Victoria Eging (Eric); her grandchildren George (Kaylyn), Shawn, Jesse (Helene), Caleb, Danee Sheppard (Jordan), Cora, Daniel, Paige, Kendra, Noah, Gabriel, Joshua, Zachary, and Sophia; her sons John Cameron and David Cameron; and step-children, Sheri Hyde (Matt), Joe Shope (Becky), LeeAnn Wolf (Jason), and Sharon Cathcart (Dale); as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her family with all her heart.
Sandra and Herb were called to serve two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in Mesa, Arizona at the Remote Operation Center (ROC) to make genealogical records accessible online. Those who knew her well understood that Sandra had a gift for making friends and could make everyone feel welcomed and loved when she was around. She was a woman of faith and courage who had a passion for the outdoors and nature. Bloom where you are planted is how she lived her life.
