Scott D Thomson, born in Salt Lake City, Utah September 24th 1955 to James R and Dorothy M. Thomson. Scott had 3 brothers, Rennie, Gene, Vic, and one sister Sherry. Scott graduated from West High School in 1974. Scott married Shelley Pearson, his high school sweetheart July 5th 1975. They were happily married for 39 years. They had 4 beautiful children, Shauntel, Jeremy, Cody and Desirae. They were his greatest treasures, he loved them, taught them, protected them and supported them his whole life. Scott played fastpitch softball for 28 years. He coached a young men’s softball team , that included both of his sons, that took 1st in the Nation 4 times. He was currently coaching a girls14 under softball team that is best in state and they will be going to Nationals later this year.
Scott started his career painting houses and then decided to become a machinist. He certified in that trait and became one of the best local machinist in the area. Starting his career for State Brass and later for Boart Longyear until he could no longer work.
Scott was always a perfectionist even when he had to jimmy- rigged things because he didn’t have the correct tools or parts. Scott enjoyed working hard and playing even harder. We are all fortunate to have so many great memories with him: family parties, reunions, camping trips, fishing trips, golf tournaments, and family vacations. As we looked through the many of these happier times, we found ourselves laughing at Scott’s wonderful sense of humor. Like most men of character Scott tackled life’s hardship with a sense of humor.
We are going to miss him each and every day, but we have comfort in the knowledge that as each of our journeys end we will be once again reunited as a family.
Scott died June 29th 2014 with his loved ones around him. He fought a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer, surviving it for 9 years before succumbing. He is one tough guy with a huge heart full of love.
