Sharon Kay Beers' Obituary
Sharon Kay Wagley Beers
1936 – 2016
Our dear Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away the morning of December 26, 2016. Sharon Kay Wagley Beers was born April 30, 1936 to Allan Hamilton and Flora Lydia Curtis Wagley in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from South High School in 1954 and married Paul Lewis Beers in the Salt Lake Temple on August 23, 1957. They were blessed with 4 children & made Bountiful their home for 29 years until Dad passed away in 1986. Mom had been anxiously looking forward to their grand reunion after all these years.
Mom was a lifelong member of the LDS church & was usually found teaching in Relief Society, Jr. Sunday School or Primary, and often served as a chorister. She was known for taking her various classes on excursions to the zoo or Liberty Park. Though mostly a homemaker, she worked briefly at several different jobs, including the offices of Fuller Brush, Sperry Univac, Castleton’s gift wrapping, Juliette’s, the Salt Lake Temple cafeteria, a medical supply factory, Davis Schools Credit Union (now Horizon), and she retired from Beneficial Life Insurance.
Mom was an accomplished dancer in her youth and was blessed with musical talents in singing and playing the piano. She was also involved in performing and directing several plays and roadshows. Mom was totally addicted to Dr. Pepper & Hershey’s chocolate! She enjoyed reading mysteries & Church books, golfing, gardening, long car rides, camping, shopping for clothes, eating out, remodeling & decorating, and hosting parties. She especially loved Christmas and her decorated trees were spectacular! Her numerous Christmas Eve celebrations are fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, not to mention her own kids.
Sharon is survived by her children - Pennie Whipple, Pam (Victor) Calvo, Andria (Ron) Merrill & Ronald (Sommer) Beers; 13 grandchildren – Brooke (Nick) Coombs, Kirsten (Rob) Schill, Harrison (Jenelle) Whipple, Jaclyn (Scott) Lewis, Olivia Whipple, Paul Calvo, Greg Calvo, Ryan Merrill, Brittany (Vern) Coggle, Carissa Merrill, Cydney Beers, Geoff Beers, & Greysen Beers: 10 great grandchildren – Alice & Boston Coombs, Samantha & Brett Schill, Stockton Whipple, Alexis & Caelan Coggle, Preston Herman, Emma & Madisyn Westlund; and sisters Marcia Starr & Lois Maxfield.
