Sharon Kay (Payne) Folland passed away early Saturday morning, January 21, 2023 at the age of 72 in her brother’s home from metastatic (breast) cancer. Sharon was born on May 6th, 1950 in Salt Lake City and was the second of five Read Obituary
We have been next door neighbors with Sharon since 1980. We enjoyed gift exchanges with her at Christmas. Sharon always had such a beautiful smile! We enjoyed conversations about teaching our students. We want her family to know that we send our warmest condolences.

I have known Sharon since junior high school. We became good friends in high school. We were college roommates at Utah State University for four year. We even taught at Kennedy Junior High School for a year. Our travels together took to the Pacific Northwest and we spent a month touring and teaching in China.
Sharon was such a great support when I was diagnosed with cancer.
She was a strong advocate voice for breast cancer research and was so knowledgeable in what was going on in the cancer research field.
She was such an asset to the Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Research Advocate Committee, of which she was a founding member.
Sharon was a fun-loving, family-loving, friend-loving person.
To me she was a wonderful friend and I will miss her greatly.

Sharon and I went to Project Lead to learn how to advocate for Breast cancer. This was a program started by the National Breast Cancer Coilation. This became an outlet to give a voice, a face,and vote as survivors on research grants. We became activist for others.
I last saw Sharon three years ago in San Antonio. So sorry I cannot come to her service. She was a true friend and amazing advocate.
