Shastina “Chas” Ortega, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away March 4th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and devotion to her kids and her grandkids.
Shastina was born to Martin and Madeline “Lynn” Ortega. She lived a life defined by authenticity, resilience, and an unwavering love for those closest to her. Known for her outspoken nature and bold spirit, Chas never hesitated to speak her mind and stand up for what she believed in. Her honesty and strength were qualities that those who knew her admired deeply.
She had a caring heart and a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, supported, and loved. Chas brought warmth wherever she went and had a natural gift for lighting up a room. Her humor was unforgettable, and many who knew her would say she was one of the funniest people they had ever met. Her laughter and quick wit created moments that her family and friends will cherish forever.
Shastina is preceded in death by her father, Martin Ortega, and her beloved son, Nicholas Ortega, whom she has now joined in heaven.
She is survived by her loving children, Alicia Vigil and Alexander Ortega; her mother, Madeline “Lynn” Ortega; Grandchildren Christopher Vigil, Aaliyah Vigil and many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Chas’s love, strength, and laughter will live on through the lives she touched and the memories shared by those who loved her most.
The world feels a little quieter without her voice, but heaven gained a fearless, funny, and unforgettable soul.
