Shawna Anne Sugimoto's Obituary
It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we inform you of the passing of our loving mother, grand-mother, daughter, sister and friend.
Shawna Anne Sugimoto was born to Steven T. Sugimoto and Marie Weston Ward on December 14, 1972. She was a loving and selfless person who often put others needs before her own.
Shawna attended Roy High School and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Weber State University. She worked as a contractor at Hill Air Force base for many years and was a volunteer with Americorp working as a Student Advocate.
Shawna adored all children which was reflected in the many hours that she spent working with students at Roy High School, The Boys and Girls Club of Roy and especially the students at North Davis Jr. High. She absolutely loved her nieces and nephews. She had established a food pantry at Roy High for students in need and hoped that it would eventually grow to serve her community. Shawna was a strong and active supporter of NAMI and NUHOPE. She was a hardcore Dallas Cowboys fan and lover of all things Elvis, Winnie the Pooh and Hello Kitty.
Shawna is survived by her son Colton (Jamie) Sugimoto and daughter Kiersten (Jake) White. She is also survived by her mother, brothers Scott (Heather) and Aaron (Sunny) Sugimoto, stepsister Guillian (Joey) D’Alessandro, stepmother Vicki Sugimoto, grandmother Ruth Sugimoto, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and her sweet little dog Snuggles.
Shawna was preceded in death by her father, grandparents George Sugimoto and Heber and Mary Weston, and her precious grand-daughter Isla Michelle Sugimoto.
A celebration gathering of family and friends will be held at the Ogden Buddhist Church, 155 North St., Ogden, Utah on December 15, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Shawna’s name at America First Credit Union to help with funeral costs.
