Sherman Clay Bond's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved Sherman, who passed from this side of the veil and gone to his Creator on September 6, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, strength, and cherished memories that will forever remain etched in his loved ones hearts.
On October 5th, 1956 Sherman Clay was born to Clayton F. and Winnifred M. Bond. Clayton and Winnifred raised Sherman out in Bisti, NM for about 16 years before tragedy struck and burned their home and livelihood of a trading post down to the ground. Together the family of three moved their home permanently to Kirtland, NM and started anew. Sherman graduated from Kirtland Central Highschool in 1975. He lived a life filled with faith, love, laughter, and humor. He was a loving husband, a doting father and grandfather, and a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He has touched the lives of countless individuals throughout his mortal journey with his great sense of humor and ability to make friends with any and all wherever he went.
It was when Sherman was about 5 years old when he came to know for himself and have a strong testimony that Joseph Smith Jr. was a true prophet. From there his love for his Savior Jesus Christ grew and helped him decide to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Little Rock Arkansas when he was 19 years old.
He then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he met his sweetheart, Donna. They were married in Sandy Utah on November 21,1981. They then moved to Kirtland, NM where they had and raised their five children for a time before moving to Pleasant Grove, Utah early in 2000. During those years Sherman created wonderful memories with his family sharing his love of his hobbies which include camping, fishing, guns and shooting, reloading, classic cars, history, and woodworking.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 (almost 42 years in November), Donna Beveridge, children Aubrey Anna, Morgan Reece, Megan Camille, Jessica Irene, and Syrina Nicole, nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Winnifred Bond.
As we bid farewell to Sherman, we find solace in the knowledge that his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. Though he may no longer walk beside us we know he was taken home to his Savior, Jesus Christ. His legacy will continue to guide us as we navigate the path ahead. The impact he made during his time on Earth is a testament to a life well-lived, and his memory will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
A graveside service will be held September 9, 2023.
Interment, Kirtland and Fruitland Cemetery, Kirtland, New Mexico. Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at 10 am.
