Shirley Carla Claus Cox's Obituary
Shirley Carla Claus Cox, born May 28, 1952, passed away January 6, 2023.
Shirley was everybody’s best friend. Always cheerful and joking. She had the ideal personality to work with little children as they always loved her instantly.
Her husband Tim, felt like he was married to a celebrity, for whenever they went anywhere someone would always stop and call out, “Miss Shirley! Miss Shirley!” and hurry over for a hug. She was a natural teacher and she had taught little ones from her 20’s until her 60’s. She began in the Primary nursery, then Little Red Schoolhouse, Child Care Center, Tutor Time, Kids First, and finally Kid Care Company.
Shirley knew many facts about plants, flowers, movie-stars, musicians, all the titles and artists of pop songs from the 60s to the 90s. She knew all the lyrics to nursery rhymes and children’s songs. If you have been lucky enough to have a “Singing Time with Miss Shirley” you know how charismatic she was.
She was a passionate animal lover and put food out for the stray cats, raccoons and squirrels. She loved her three cats dearly- Buffy, Buddy Bob, and Buddy Longtail.
Her greatest love for the past four years has been her granddaughter, Marley. Marley was her pride and joy.
She is survived in death by her loving husband of 22 years, Tim Cox. Her children, Dustin Tafoya (Lisa), Christian (Kristy) Mickelsen, Brandon Mickelsen and Autumn Mickelsen Donivan. Her granddaughter, Marley Mickelsen. Brother, Hans Claus (Christie), Sisters, Ann Opfar and Sylvia Simmons (Bill) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Shirley was adored by so many. People young and old have amazing memories of Shirley. Her life was well-lived and she will be missed by all.
