Shirley Jean Dalton's Obituary
Shirley Jean Dalton (Shepherd), 75, of Layton UT, passed away on May 25th, 2015.
A Celebration of her life will be held this Saturday, May 30th, at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in the Rotunda Room from 2pm to 4pm located on 210 S Chapel St Layton UT 84041. Her burial will be held on a later date at Hillside Memorial Park located in Akron, Ohio.
Shirley was born in Akron, OH on February 2nd, 1940. She graduated from Garfield High school in Akron, OH in 1959. She joined the Air Force in 1959 and was stationed in Offutt AFB near Omaha, NE. Where she met and later married our father, James R Dalton Sr, also in the Air Force, in 1961, in Omaha, NE. From there she traveled with her husband spanning from Turkey, Thailand, and then stationed in Seymour Johnson AFB, NC where their 1st child, James was born in 1969. From there they were stationed at S.H.A.P.E. Military Base in Belgium where their 2nd child, Larry was born in 1972. From there they were stationed at Ramstein Air Force base in Landstuhl Germany where their 3rd child, Jon born in 1977. From there they were stationed at Hill AFB UT where their 4th child, Lisa was born in 1978. She remained in Utah and worked for the Hill AFB Child Development center for 15 years and then retired. She loved her grandson Ethan, trips to Wendover, bingo, Texas Hold'em, Yahtzee, keeping tabs on who owed her money, calling and writing her mother every week, putting in for every and any drawing and winning many prizes for herself and for her kids and grandson. She loved winning stuffed animals from crane games and skeeball at Lagoon. She loved Elvis, the King, Presley and listening to George Strait's Troubadour CD every night to help her get to sleep at night.
Shirley is survived by her children James R Dalton Jr, Larry S Dalton, Jon Dalton and Lisa Dalton (Jensen). Her grandson Ethan, her mother, Mournain Shepherd, her brother Rick Shepherd, sister Francis Mustard. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Herman L Shepherd, brother, Larry Shepherd, and recently her sister, Laverne Bedford.
