Sidney Finlayson Larsen's Obituary
Sidney Finlayson Larsen, age 74, left this life on March 9, 2021. She was born November 17, 1946, to Grandale Finlayson and Violet Squires Finalyson in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up on a farm in West Jordan with her siblings Karin, Janet, Kathleen, and Jim. She attended Bingham High and completed some classes at the University of Utah. She was set up on a blind date with Rodger Evan Larsen, whom she married August 8, 1969, in the Salt Lake temple. They spent the majority of their married life as the camp rangers and caretakers of Camp Tracy Wigwam up Millcreek canyon, moving there in December 1974 and retiring in 2010. They then moved to Bountiful and enjoyed several years of retired living before Rodger passed in November 2017.
Sidney was very talented musically. She could play the organ, piano, and upright bass. She served as ward organist for most of her adult life. She was famous for her wheat bread recipe, for taking exceptional care of the Camp Tracy lodge, and she loved to camp and be outdoors. Most recently, she enjoyed helping her dear friends and neighbors converting census records for genealogy.
Sidney was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathleen (Bruce) Rosier, and Rodger. She is survived by her siblings Karin (Marcus) Holmgren, Janet (Paul) Griffin, and Jim (Jodi) Finlayson. She is survived by her children, R. Chad (Jeri Matsen), Josh (Katie Ward), Christopher, and JoAnn Trujillo. She was incredibly proud of her ten grandchildren: Molly, Rachel, Ben; Antoinette, Riken, Marty, Parley; Jackie, Genevieve, and Sierra. They loved their “Granny,” and she will be missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Canyon HomeCare & Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
The viewing will be conducted Saturday, March 13, at 10:00–11:30 a.m. at 200 N. 200 W., Bountiful, UT, followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at the West Jordan Cemetery, 7925 S. 1300 W., West Jordan.
