Signor John "Butch" Bonhomme's Obituary
Signor John “Butch” Bonhomme, 85, of Riverton, Utah passed away on March 7th, 2026 at City Creek Post Acute Care facility.
Born September 28th, 1940, in Marshall, Texas to Signor Joesph Bonhomme and Ollie B. Chappell. John wasn’t much of a school boy in his youth, and was seen mostly running in the backwoods of Texas with them good ole boys (the Harrison boys). Early on in his life he decided to serve in the United States Marine Corp, at the ripe old age of 17. Which gave the young man an opportunity to travel the world and seek new adventures. After that being indecisive about a career field, he took the first job that would pay him now, a semi truck driver. Which in turn became a long term career as a long haul truck driver for almost 60 years of his life. Where he had traveled from the sunny shores of California to the hustle and bustle of New York City, from the winding river of the Rio Grande, up the vast Great White North of Canada.
John was a very unique kind of character. He was always had a curious nature on how life and the world worked. He loved to entice anyone into a good discussion, which could very well last for hours if not even into days. One of his favorite past time was watching or listening to anything that had to do about the Dallas Cowboys, “How about them, Cowboys!”. And through his life he enjoyed the landscape of this great nation, the United States of America.
Johnny was survived by his baby sister Lula Bell. And was predeceased by his loving sister Martha Barnham.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a future date, please reach out to either Lula or Jody for more information. In lieu instead of flowers, the family request that any donations be made by taking time out of your day, and start a conversation with a neighbor or a complete stranger. You may never know what a few words can determine to someone’s day.
John’s garrulous nature, generosity, and unwavering devotion for others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
