Sol Henry Vander Veur's Obituary
Sol Henry Vander Veur born January 15, 1970 in Salt Lake City, Utah to
Bonnie Davenport Vander Veur (Ellefson) and Henry Vander Veur ll
returned to his Heavenly Father on December 7 surrounded by his
family and in the tender care of the University of Utah doctors and
nurses. Sol lived in Salt Lake surrounded by a large and loving Dutch
family, including his adoring Oma and Opa. He fondly spoke of his
many happy family gatherings with his dozens of Vander Veur aunts,
uncles and cousins. Sol was a gifted musician who played guitar and
was respected by the local community of musicians. Sol and his
brother Shane formed a band called Pitch Black which preformed
locally in the early 2000s. When Sol was a teenager, he moved to
Hawaii with his mother and stepfather, Steve Ellefson, where he
quickly developed a love of boogie boarding and surfing. He became
an expert surfer at Makaha, his favorite beach near his home in
Waianae on the west side of Oahu. Sol is survived by his daughter
Melody Ann VanderVeur, his brother Shane Vander Veur and sister
Sage Weaver, as well as his father Henry Vander Veur ll and his
stepfather Steve Ellefson.
