Sondra Lynn Stewart's Obituary
Devoted and Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Sondra Lynn (Gray) Stewart passed away June 30, 2023 in the hospital due to natural causes just a few days shy of her 80th birthday. She was surrounded by family at her time of passing.
Born to William Lawson Gray and Edna Berniece (Ross) Gray on July 9, 1943, Mom was raised as an Air Force (SAC) Kid and lived in many parts of the USA and even in post-World War ll Japan as part of the first wave of civilians allowed on base. She attended BYU and was on her way to earning a degree in psychology when she met Dad (Harry W. Stewart), the love of her life. After a whirlwind courtship they married a short time later on Dec 28,1964. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary when Dad passed away and Mom remained a widow for 8 long years.
Mom taught all around her to love and appreciate animals, especially horses, along with reading, family history and to not give up no matter what challenges life could throw at you. Mom was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and raised 5 kids. Later in life took care of Dad for 16 years after he had several debilitating strokes. Over the past 5 years Mom’s own health took a turn for the worse which resulted in her moving to Mount Pleasant, Utah to live with one of her children. Mom was always smiling and like to be teased even when things were dire. She will be missed.
She is survived by her children: Wayne (Ruth) Stewart; Julia Ruth (David) Soderquist; Lora (Don) Garlitz; David (Teah) Stewart; 17 grandchildren and 2 Great grandchildren; and her half-brother Scott Gray of Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry Stewart, daughter Rachael Ann Getz, grandchild ~Hope Garlitz and half-sister Tanya Gray
