Sonia Carmen Ramirez Cruz de Vasquez's Obituary
Our beloved sister Sonia Carmen Ramírez Cruz de Vásquez, was born on February 17th, 1948 and departed this earth on December 18th, 2020. Daughter of Blanca Teresa Cruz de Ramírez and Justino Ramírez Corcuera, was born and raised in Lima, Perú.
Since her early years she showed her great maturity and intelligence, graduating with honors and excellence at the G.U.E. María Parado de Bellido school.
Sonia was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 25th, 1964 where she always excelled as a very active member. Years later, she served as a full time Missionary in the Bolivia Mission by tirelessly sharing the gospel and her love for those who needed it most.
In 1976, shortly after completing her mission, she decided to emigrate to the United States of America in search of new opportunities by settling in Utah, where she later studied and graduated, at then LDS Business College, Interior Design, and later Business Administration.
During her professional career she worked for JCPenney department stores, where she excelled very successfully as a decorator; and on her later years, managing apartment buildings for housing.
Sonia's high human quality was evident through love and support for her family and friends, always extending her friendly hand to those who needed her the most. She had a great testimony, and an unwavering faith in God. As a faithful member of the Church, she served in several callings, but her service with children in Primary was always her favorite. Sonia was always highly respected, loved, and appreciated by her Church leaders and members, but above all by "her" Primary children.
Her love and compassion for animals led her to rescue a kitten who she named Betsy, who now mourns her absence.
She loved and enjoyed traveling and getting to know new places. Exquisitely tasted at the arts, she loved to dance, and music was her passion. She loved jazz, salsa, and romantic music in Spanish. We all have so many beautiful memories of our sister!
She is survived by her husband Julio Vásquez Sepúlveda, whom she married in 2008, and her siblings Justo, Rolando, Nancy, Willy, Rafael, Teresa, and Fanny.
Sonita, you took a step forward to prepare the place where we will all be back together.
You lived and left bravely. We will remember and love you eternally.
