Stanley Ernest Petersen's Obituary
Stanley Ernest Petersen passed away on March 1, 2015 at the age of 89. Born in Salt Lake City on December 27, 1925 to Mads Emil Petersen and Gladys Croxford. He married Lila Folker, May 18, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dad now joins his ‘Deary’ of 65 years who passed away on September 23, 2014, and many loved ones including daughters, Karen Ann (infant) and Debra Colleen. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He and his wife loved the experience of being foster parents of more than 50 children during 18 years. They lived in Kearns for most of their married lives. He worked for Mt. Fuel Supply Co. (Questar Gas) for 30 years. After retiring he enjoyed being a crossing guard for 9 years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, competitive trap shooting, making homemade chocolates, gardening, and growing beautiful iris and roses. The pleasure of these activities was enhanced because they were done with immediate and extended family members. He was known for barbequing pigs and lambs for several ward and gun club parties.

He is survived by children: Ellen Petersen, Donna (David) Clark, and Roy Petersen, grandchildren (Grandpa’s Kids): Benjamin (Angie), Maren, and Michaela Clark, and 2 great- grandchildren. His siblings are Aleta Wagstaff Kemp (deceased), Don E Petersen (deceased), Clarence (Donna) Petersen and Frank (Janice) Petersen.
Viewing will be Thursday, March 5th from 6-8 p.m. at the Copperhill 7th Ward, 4195 South 6000 West, West Valley City. Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 6th, 10:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery located at 6500 South Redwood Road.
