Stephen Dorko's Obituary
Stephen Dorko was born in Czechoslovakia on March 4, 1933. Stephen’s parents moved back to America to keep their American citizenship and to ensure a better life and comfortable home for their children to emigrate to. Stephen and his brothers were raised by grandparents in Czechoslovakia until he was 15 years old. He came to America with his two brothers on the Queen Elizabeth and was reunited with his parents and youngest brother who had been born in America. The family lived in Carteret New Jersey.
Stephen and his family belonged to the Magyar Reformed Church in Carteret. After finishing high school, Stephen attended trade school where he learned to be an electric motor technician, then he joined the US Army in 1953 and received an honorary discharge in 1955. After the Army, He worked for Bishop Electric Motors for 50 years and retired as a foreman supervisor. Stephen married Brigitta Nagy in 1967 and they lived together in East Brunswick, New Jersey. They belonged to the Magyar Reformed Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey where he served on the consistory as Presbyter then Vice Chief Elder and then Chief Elder. Stephen and Brigitta belonging to the Hungarian club where they enjoyed family get-togethers, events, programs, dancing, and picnics. Their son Stephen A Dorko was born in 1971 and went on to attend East Brunswick High School and joined the US Air Force. Stephen A served in Desert Storm, and after 24 years of service, he and his family retired in Utah. In 2017, Stephen and Brigitta moved to Utah to live by their son Stephen, daughter in law Eydie, and granddaughter Sabrina. They enjoyed the next five years in Utah with their children and granddaughter. Stephen and Brigitta had recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Stephen was well-loved and he loved getting together to spend time with family and friends telling stories of his adventures. Stephen passed away on December 10, 2022 from circumstances resulting from medical complications. He was at McKay Dee Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. Stephen is survived by his wife Brigitta, son Stephen, daughter in law Eydie, and graddaughter Sabrina. He is preceded in death by his parents Stephen Dorko and Agnes Dorko, his brothers, Andrew Dorko, Alexander Dorko and Lester Dorko. A memorial service will be held for Stephen in Utah and then his remains will be flown to New Jersey for a memorial service where he will rest in peace with his parents in New Jersey. He will be greatly missed by his wife Brigitta, son Stephen, daughter in law Eydie, and granddaughter Sabrina. May God bless him, we will miss him very much. Rest in peace with all our love.
